강현식 목사는 감리교신학대학과 동 대학원을 졸업하고 정동교회, 상운수표교교회, 보문제일교회에서 목회하다가 캐나다로 이주하게 되었습니다. 캐나다의 토론토 한인감리교회에서 부목사로 지내던 중, 건강하고 성숙한 신앙 공동체를 지향하는 영성 목회를 염두에 두고 '향기로운 교회'를 개척하였습니다. 영성에 대한 관심으로 토론토 대학 Regis College에서 영성신학(STM & DSD)을 공부하며 목회해 오다가 와싱톤한인교회로 부름을 받았습니다. 기타 연주를 즐기고, 가끔 곡을 쓰기도 하며, 테니스를 좋아합니다. 째즈 음악을 공부하는 아내와 두 딸 소희(1996년생), 주희(1998년생)를 자녀로 두고 있습니다.

Rev. Hyun Sik Kang received bachelor's and master's degrees from Methodist Theological Seminary in Seoul, Korea. He served at Jung-dong First Methodist Church, Sang-woon Methodist Church, and Bo-moon First Methodist Church. And then he moved to Canada. After serving as associate pastor at Toronto Korean Methodist Church, Rev. Kang started Fragrant Church with a vision towards a healthy and mature, spirituality-based community. He continued his interest in spirituality by studying at Regis College in University of Toronto, earning Master's degree in in Sacred Theology degree and Diploma in Spiritual Direction. In 2006, he joined the pastoral staff of the Korean United Methodist Church of Greater Washington. In his spare time, Rev. Kang enjoys playing guitar, occasionally writes songs, and plays tennis. His wife, Hye Jin Lee, is studying Jazz Vocal, and they have two daughters: So Hee(born in 1996), and Joo Hee(born in 1998).
