My calling to serve children began in 1995. Ministering to children and their families
for the last nine years at KUMC of G.W. has been a great joy and blessing. To briefly
introduce myself, I was born in Korea and immigrated to the United States when I was
fifteen years old. I grew up in Lansing, Michigan untill I moved to Washington D.C. to
attend Wesley Theological Seminary in 1996. I completed the Master of Divinity degree
in the spring of 2000, with plans for further study in Master of Arts in Christian
Education at Virginia Union Theological Seminary in Richmond.
My vision for Children's ministry is simple: to raise up a young generation who are
experiencing God in their daily lives and are wiling to answer God's call (Isaiah 6:8).
Considering the unique cultural, social, and racial context in which our children are
living, it is our great task to provide a nurturing and caring community where children
can experience the love of Jesus Christ and be challenged to live as Christians in this
world. Also, knowing there is a lack of resources and full-time servants who are being
called to serve children and youth, it is vital for the Church to mobilize congregations
and other church leaders into this ministry to the younger generations.
