Youth Group Mission Statement (The Five E's) The youth group of Korean United Methodist Church of Greater Washington seeks to: (1) Embrace all who enter it with the warmth of God's Love (2) Encounter God's grace through the transforming power of Jesus Christ (3) Exalt God with hearts and lives of worship (4) Equip all to grow in deeper love and knowledge of Jesus Christ (5) Empower all for ministry and evengelism both to the church and to the world The Five E's focus on six focal points: (1) Embrace = Genuine Fellowship (2) Encounter = Personal relationship and salvation through Jesus Christ (3) Exalt = Worship of God (4) Equip = Discipleship, deeper and more committed faith (5) Empower = Evangelism (6) Empower = Ministry, using gifts and graces to serve both church and world II. Youth Group Programs (1) Embrace (Fellowship) Programs a. Weekly Saturday Night Bible Study and Fellowship b. Weekly Sports Fellowship after church in Spring, Summer, Fall c. Monthly Newcomers Luncheon d. Monthly Fellowship Nights at Youth Parents Home e. Bi-yearly Lock-Ins in Spring and Fall f. Annual Hiking Trip to Shenendoah in the Fall g. Annual Ski Trip in Winter h. Annual Trip to Kings Dominion in Spring i. Other Activities and Outings like bowling, movies, ice skating, paint ball (2) Encounter (Experiencing God) Programs a. Fall Praise Night led by youth group b. Winter Retreat with other KUMC churches c. Spring Youth Revival d. Summer Youth Retreat e. Weekly Sunday School Classes (3) Exalt (Worship) Programs a. Sunday Worship b. Friday Fellowship and Bible Study c. Special Worship Services; Good Friday Service, Ash Wednesday Service (4) Equip (Discipleship) Programs a. 8-week discipleship bible studies offered four times a year b. Fall leadership retreat for all youth leaders c. Individual Mentoring with youth leaders by youth pastor (5) Empower (Evangelism) Programs a. Weekly Sandwich Patrol to homeless in D.C. b. Monthly Outings to community, cleaning up at Bethany House (battered women's shelter), donating funds to service agencies c. Annual Youth Missions trip to Mexico in summer d. Special Service Projects during Christmas and Easter e. Youth Writings for Lenten Devotional booklet (6) Empower (Ministry) Programs a. Youth Council - Monthly Meetings and prayer b. Praise Team - meets weekly on Saturday c. Barnabas Welcoming Team d. Design Team - webpage, communications, decorations e. Missions and Outreach Team f. Sports Teams (basketball, volleyball, softball) III. Weekly and Monthly Schedule
of Events for Youth 1. Youth Group Worship Service, weekly on Sunday 12:15pm-1:00pm 2. Sunday School Classes, weekly on Sunday 11:30am- 12:15pm 3. Prayer Meetings, Sunday 9:30am-10:30am 4. Saturday Night Fellowship and Bible Study, weekly on Saturday 4:00pm-6:00pm 5. Discipleship Bible Study (group A), weekly on Friday 6:00pm-7:30pm 6. Discipleship Bible Study (group B), weekly on Saturday 4:00pm-5:30pm 7. Praise Team Practice, weekly on Saturday 2-4 pm 8. Sandwich Patrol, weekly on Saturday, 9:30am-1:30pm 9. Recreation and Sports, weekly on Sunday 3pm-5:30pm 10. Welcoming Team Meeting, Sunday 10:30am-11:30am 11. House Fellowships, monthly on last Friday of each month, place TBA 12. Newcomer's Luncheon, monthly, second Sunday of each month 13. Other Programs occur quarterly or yearly IV. Parent Involvement
and Education Parents can Sign Up as chaperones to various activities. Sign-up and volunteering forms available on youth bulletin board outside youth chapel. Monthy PTA meetings with youth pastor take place on the last Saturday of every month, from 8am-10am in SunWon Fellowshp Hall. |
